Thinking a lot about all of your prayers this morning. I am so grateful & honored to be trusted & thank you for sharing yourselves with me at this holy moment we have found ourselves in. The Holy Event, prophesied for so many years, in so many cultures & traditions, now in our lap.
How fortunate are we to be of service at this time. We knew, in collaboration with our souls & other sacred navigators, we knew at birth that we would be born
to live through this moment. With good faith in free will, we may not have known exactly how it was going to play out, but we chose our presence here
& now . . . . we are truly getting our sea legs. One day at a time.
It may seem to be a distraction to come back to the Lunar Cycle, at a time like this, when so many people need our help now or even, more realistically, yesterday but I do think coming back to our personal understanding of the cycles of expansion & contraction as a path of integration is helpful at any moment, to find one’s center & to grow in accountability.
I love sharing this practice with all of you as a tool to teach (y)ourselves
(or rather remind (y)ourselves) of the ebb & the flow, the rhythm between light & dark, to remind (y)ourself of pacing, to allow (y)ourself time to receive information/intuition/invitations from the Beloved.
This cycle of growth (the pattern of the Lunar cycle) is important 1) in the present moment (as far as what phase of the Moon we are currently in)
2) as far as your natal moment (the phase of the Moon you were
actually born under) & 3) also as a cycle of growth in history & the larger spheres.
Like the Sphere we now find ourselves in at the current moment.
In your lifetime, you also have a year that is your New Moon & one that is your personal Full Moon. As a matter of fact, depending on how long you live,
you may have up to three full Lunar cycles.
Projects also have Lunar cycles. Relationships have Lunar cycles as well.
From seed energy (New Moon) where an archetype or prayer is set by the Beloved * through the impetus to put our individual imprint on that prayer
(First Quarter) * to the illumination of our intentions & passion for our current assignment (Full Moon) * through our struggle with our egos to make things right, find closure, fix everything (Last Quarter) * through our ability to surrender to a higher self & understand our relationship with the Mystery
(Dark Moon/before New Moon).
And then, of course, we will pass through the eye of the needle, refresh . . . . & we begin again.
Excuse me while I take the picture a bit larger . . . The development of this relationship, the relationship of faith & understanding between the body of humanity (us) with the Beloved (Source Energy in whatever form you recognize)
has also, over the course of history, followed the trajectory of the Lunar cycle:
NEW MOON:
In the beginning human beings had no idea of God, Goddess, Outside Energy. They felt completely out of control & afraid of earth changes, of nature, of creating life, of dying. There was no system of thought, no prayer or dialogue ~ like infants they were at the mercy of the seasons, the weather, their own physical selves. There was a lost feeling, like feeling one's way in the dark.
FIRST QUARTER:
Once a sensibility began to occur about the cycles of nature, a trust with this source of life began & also a sense of awe. There was a surrender to this source of life & an understanding or reflection that that life originated in women's bodies. A belief/worship system began centered on female deities, the Mother. Humans considered themselves children of this vibrational energy & both surrendered in love & struggled to be closer to The Mother through ritual.
FULL MOON:
As human beings began to get more comfortable with the cycles of nature, the rhythms & mechanics of the elements, & the organization of energy, they grew in the understanding of their own power. It began from a sense of joy & connection but soon the idea of personal power took center stage & with that the valuing (perhaps over~valuing) of the masculine, a physical source of strength. Still young, still learning, there was still a need for spiritual practice based on a parental figure. A Father dominated model came into play & humans built powerful structures of organized religion to control this relationship with the Divine.
LAST QUARTER: (THIS WHERE WE HAVE BEEN SINCE THE INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION UNTIL NOW)
An awkward growing up process. The Mother culture let the Father culture take over. A lack of faith/trust there. The Father culture is a bully. A lack of faith/trust there. Are we old enough to take God into our own hands? This awkward stage begins with the rise in atheism & agnosticism. but also in rise in sexual magick (seeing God in each other), ecstatic & sometimes distracting beliefs in things like alien abductions, a belief in the occult, experimentation with psychedelics, the beginning of tearing down religious systems that heretofore had seemed unyielding.
So that leaves us here as a culture, as a family way past the Last Quarter
& approaching the Dark Moon (soon to be the New Moon), the final integration . . . what is next for our beliefs?
The Mother returning? If so, how? In a totally new format, formed by all our lives, century on century? Can we understand The Mystery? Or are we back at a state of unknowing? A state of coming bliss . . . Union with the Divine?
I do believe the Divine is within us, has always been within us, in a land beyond thought.
I also believe that, although the times may feel tentative & ungrounded, we are ready. We just need to stay with it & ourselves. Keep it simple. Stay centered & true. Do the next right thing.
