What Cannot Be Said Will Be Wept
5 Day Sadhana for the Global Strike beginning Tomorrow Morning on Instagram Live
Today begins a new call for a Global Strike supporting a humanitarian response to the ongoing crisis of the Palestinians in Gaza. The call is not just for one day but for an entire week, ending next Sunday, January 28.
I know this may feel intimidating to many: how can I not go work? not send my kids to school? not engage in the world in all the ways I am used to? is it actually possible to not spend money?
You do not need to know the answer to all these questions, nor do you need to do things perfectly. Not today. Not ever.
This kind of self flagellation & its concurrent self doubt/lack of self worth are EXACTLY what you have the opportunity to release yourself from, even if you only meditate on removing yourself from current systems that you may see as non-negotiable for now.
I started an essay last week on DECOLONIZING THE HEART & it has opened up many passageways, histories & conversations that are so thrilling I can hardly contain myself. I will give you all a glimpse very very soon. Will it be a course? a series of essays? a performance? a film? who knows . . . maybe all of the above, probably the rest of my life work. Maybe I have been working on it all along.
But this week I invite you to sit with me & contemplate our tiny little seats in the epic, prophetic history we have all been born to live.
Starting Tomorrow morning, Monday, January 22 at 7 am EST, I will be leading a 5 day Sadhana on Instagram Live 🤍 Prayers & meditation will last about 30 minutes each morning. In that time I will be sharing some of my thoughts on the deeper levels of transformation that are happening right now, whether or not we are aware of them. Better yet, not just levels of transformation but opportunities for freedom. The loosening of bondage that we may only feel a glimmer of. Or perhaps we are ready & see it all*
You just need to turn your phone on & go to Instagram, find my profile & listen. You can stay in bed if you want, though sitting up is awesome & inspiring.
In the time we sit together, we can call on our hesitations & fears about change, about disengaging from ways of life that have become very comfortable, even if that comfort is a disguise for a loss of agency. We can view them without shame & imagine the space & community that are possible outside of these beliefs.
The steps can be super tiny. Just contemplation is BIG, has ripples that we can only imagine their scope.
As a conceptual/social engagement artist over the last 40 plus years, I get really excited when I see large masses of people across great distances activated at the same time. As horrible as the Covid Pandemic was, I believe it opened our eyes & our subtle bodies to feel the people of this earth moving together, feeling together, seeing each other in real time.
As a big sci fi girl, I believe that all these tiny lights in all these tiny dwellings across the planet hold infinite power. The exhaustion that we feel in the face of corporate control, financial instability, death & destruction is real. But we do not need to change it by ourselves. We can do it together.
*Although the strike is on & I will not be conducting my usual School of Invisible Art business, this Sadhana is by donation, as is true of all my devotional practices. You can wait until the strike is over or do as you will. Donations support me & my ability to create content & hold space. Thank you so much.
