Next Saturday, April 12, the last day of Venus Retrograde, we will have a special Venus immersion MOTHER OF GOD from 10 am to 1 pm.

We will begin with a full 50 minute devotional practice to The Mother, take some time for journaling & rest (writing prompts will be offered) & then go deep into the body to find our way with a special offering of THE PLEASURE PRACTICE led by Luciana Achugar:

"To grow ourselves a new body. To give our bodies their voices back, with a practice of pleasure; to practice growing a body as one would grow a plant; a utopian body; a sensational body; a connected body; an anarchic body.............. with a brain that melted down to the flesh, the blood, the bones, the guts, the skin.... a body in pleasure with eyes that see without naming, they see without knowing..." Show up from your own private space to practice being & listening to the feeling(s) in your body, through Luciana’s spoken guidance, reminding you of your desire & your pleasure of being, teaching you about the knowing in your body. An undoing of hierarchy within your own experience of being. Growing yourself an uncivilized, decolonized body as radar, body as antennae, body as plant, body as a relational tool.

Luciana is a Brooklyn-based choreographer from Uruguay who grew as an artist in close dialogue with the NY & Uruguayan contemporary dance communities. In her work theater is a space for utopia; utopia is a practice; practice is ritual; ritual is devotion; devotion is dance & dance is a practice of being in pleasure. She has received many accolades such as two Bessie Awards & one nomination, 2022 USA Doris Duke Fellowship, 2017 Alpert Award, 2015 Austin Critic’s Award for Best Touring work, Guggenheim Fellowship, Creative Capital Grant, Foundation for Contemporary Arts Grant, MAP Funds, Jerome Foundation, & NYFA Artist Grants amongst others.

Although the month of astrological & cultural mayhem, March 2025, is over, the effects are long lasting, opening up the forever now of our physical lives. We can blame personal confusion, exhaustion & disassembling on current world events but the truth is, this cyclone of transformation has been heading our way for hundreds of years. This transition, of which the other side is still engulfed in fog & mystery, was in the cards for us long before we were born. My understanding of astrology is that we chose this moment, that we all knew, our souls knew, as we chose our current embodiment we slipped into the current that would bring us to this moment, that we knew then (& hopefully now) that we were capable of great change, that we could carry great agency, that we chose to be servants/angels/warriors of love.

Although we are going through all of this together, the way we each enter these mycelial conduits of energy IS personal in how it shows itself. Although the outside domino effect of events may appear somewhat similar, it hits a different nexus in each individual nervous system & psyche. It may feel good & be effective for us to come together, to share, to protest, to comfort, but in the end, true change comes when we individually let go of our cultural imprints. It is only then that we are truly ready to come together in a new world view. It is a slow process, one that may not change our immediate lives but will benefit generations to come.

That may not feel like enough. I understand. But in order to continue to show up for this generational work, in order to build stamina, it helps to practice being in love with life as it exists RIGHT NOW.

This is the work of the current Venus Retrograde, which began on March 1 & will end next weekend on April 12 ~ Upgrading our understanding of love, feeling the future in the present moment, fortifying ourselves, surrendering to the power of The Mother, the origins of everything.
